Body Composition Analysis
What is Body Composition?
Your body is made up of water, fat, protein, carbohydrate and various vitamins and minerals. If you have too much fat — especially if a lot of it is at your waist — you’re at higher risk for such health problems as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and diabetes. That increases your risk for heart disease and stroke.
At Aoife Miskella Nutrition, Gorey, we use a professional Tanita Body Composition Analysis Scales. This gives us a much clearer picture of your health status, compared to measuring weight alone. It gives us valuable information on the distribution of fat, muscle and water in the body.
The Body Composition Analyser provide readings for:
- Weight
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Fat % and Fat Mass
- Total Body Water (Hydration levels)
- Muscle Mass
- Basal Metabolic Rate
- Metabolic Age
- Bone Mass
- Visceral Fat
This is particularly useful in weight management as the information is provided on a receipt-like print out allowing you to measure your progress over time. Measuring body weight alone does not allow changes in body mass attributable to muscle gain to be assessed. By assessing body composition you can get a more accurate picture of the body’s response to your new lifestyle allowing you to stay motivated and continue on your path to improved health.
